[00:00:00] Dr Mike T Nelson: Hey, what's going on? It's Dr. Mike T. Nelson here and welcome back to the Flex Diet Podcast. And today I just have a very short note to remind you if you are listening in today, which is Monday, June 12th, 2023, that the Flex Diet Certification is closing tonight at midnight pacific Standard Time and you can go to flexdiet.com and still enroll.

[00:00:36] We've got all the information there for you. And if you're looking for a complete system for nutrition recovery and overall nutrition work. Go to flexdiet.com. It will be open again, most likely in fall. I don't have an exact date yet. So if you want to get into it now is gonna be your best time.

[00:01:00] If you're listening on today, when this podcast comes out, which is gonna be Monday. And the best part about it, in my biased opinion, because yes I did design the system is that you get the context of the big picture, which is a metabolic flexibility and flexible dieting. So you are training yourself or your clients if you are a coach, to make their physiology more resistant to higher carbohydrates and still have the ability to use fat.

[00:01:33] And then through the process of flexible dieting we are showing them or you how to actually set everything up in a flexible approach so that you can be successful. One of the biggest mistakes I think people make is assuming that with nutrition stuff they have to be 100% perfect all the time. And in my experience, that's pretty much always ends in failure.

[00:02:00] So you don't have to be perfect all the time. The reality is nutritional coaching and change is difficult. It is gonna take some time and effort, but it 100% can be done. And I think the keys are having your physiology be more metabolically flexible. So if you decide not to eat, or you're doing some intermittent fasting, your body can shift over and use fat as a fuel.

[00:02:27] If you're consuming more carbohydrates, maybe you've got a big lifting day for performance. Your body can then shift over and use those carbohydrates for fuel to fuel your performance in the gym or for whatever sport you are doing. And the reality is you do not have to do only a ketogenic diet to increase your body's ability to use fat as a fuel.

[00:02:54] It is true if you do a ketogenic diet that you will increase your body's ability to use fat. However, if you do any strength and power athletics, You will lose some of that high end carbohydrate metabolism. Now again, if you don't care about a five to 8% loss of speed and power, which some athletes may not, then you're fine.

[00:03:14] Keo away and don't worry about it. But I think there's a misconception that you have to do a ketogenic diet in order to increase metabolic flexibility. And the reality is that's false. If anything, you might be decreasing your metabolic flexibility a little bit. Again, as always, context matters here.

[00:03:34] What are you trying to do? What foods do you like, et cetera. So if you want a complete system on how to implement a diet strategy that is a flexible approach based on metabolism and actually what you do via flexible dieting check out the Flex Diet Cert. It is open until tonight, as of this recording Monday.

[00:03:55] June 12th at midnight Pacific Standard Time. I've got a bunch of cool bonuses that are still listed there that I think you will really enjoy. And for this round, I'm still giving you my private email address. You can literally ask me any questions about the certification and I will answer them because I want to help you and I want to.

[00:04:19] See you actually get better and help your clients get better without all the frustration and hair pulling that I went through when I started. The main reason I came up with this certification is I was doing research on metabolic flexibility for my PhD and when I started applying to clients, it actually worked really well in practice and I wish I had a system that I could follow.

[00:04:41] Like this, when I started coaching a nutrition client, it would've made my life infinitely easier. So that's today's shameless plug on the podcast. Go to flexdiet.com. Even if you're listening to this outside of that time period, you'll be able to get on the wait list for the next time that it is open.

[00:05:01] Thank you so much for listening to the podcast. Really appreciate it. We've got a laundry list of. Amazing guests that are coming up here in the near future. You don't wanna miss that out. We've got tons of people from Dr. Andy Galpin Adam Ross, Aaron Stryker Michael Easter, Juliet Ette, and a whole bunch more that I'm basically forgetting right now, to be honest, since as of this recording, I'm hanging out down in Costa Rica and.

[00:05:35] My brain's a little sun baked. Go to flex diet.com. Thank you so much for listening to the podcast. The next episode will be out probably in a day or two right after you listen to this one this week. So you'll have two episodes this week. Enjoy it.
